Does the Alcatel 3080G work on Eir?
It works, with caveats.
Works with caveatsCalls and texts work over 2G, which Eir keeps running with no switch-off date announced. Its 4G bands aren't published, so we can't confirm 4G data.
Fine for now. The catch is how calls get through: if they ride on 2G or 3G, they stop when Eir switches that off.
We worked this out from the phone's published bands and Eir's own published network facts (see How we check). Nobody has confirmed it for this exact pairing yet.
Eir (Ireland)
- 3G: Being switched off now: phased from 1 October 2026 (Donegal first) to 6 November 2026
- 2G: On; no Irish operator has announced a 2G switch-off
Alcatel 3080G
- 2G: 2G dual-band (Three device page)
- 3G: Not published or not checked yet
- 4G bands: 4G (bands not published by Three)
- 4G Calling: yes – Three lists 4G Calling as supported.
The same applies to networks that run on Eir: GoMo, Lyca Mobile. Smaller networks sometimes handle 4G Calling differently, so check with them too.
