Does the Doro Leva L20 work on Free Mobile?

It works, with caveats.

Works with caveats

With 2G being switched off, calls and texts fall back to 3G, which this phone supports (900 MHz, 2100 MHz). Free hasn't announced a 3G switch-off date. It supports 4G Calling, but we haven't found confirmation that it's enabled on Free Mobile. 4G data should work (shared bands: 1, 3, 7, 28).

Fine for now. The catch is how calls get through: if they ride on 2G or 3G, they stop when Free Mobile switches that off.

We worked this out from the phone's published bands and Free Mobile's own published network facts (see How we check). Nobody has confirmed it for this exact pairing yet.

Free Mobile (France)

  • 3G: On; no switch-off date announced
  • 2G: No 2G of its own: uses Orange's 2G, which is off across mainland France since 20 October 2026 ("white zones" until 1–15 December 2026)

Doro Leva L20

  • 2G: GSM 900 / 1800
  • 3G: 900 MHz, 2100 MHz
  • 4G bands: 1, 3, 7, 8, 20, 28
  • 4G Calling: yes – Doro's UK spec sheet lists VoLTE: Yes, and Three lists 4G Calling (VoLTE) as supported.
