Does the Sonim XP3 work on 1&1?
Yes, for now.
Works with caveatsCalls and texts can fall back to 2G. 1&1 has no 2G of its own and uses Vodafone's 2G through national roaming, which ends in September 2028. We haven't found confirmation that 4G Calling works on 1&1. 4G data should work (shared bands: 1, 3, 8, 38).
Fine for now. The catch is how calls get through: if they ride on 2G or 3G, they stop when 1&1 switches that off.
We worked this out from the phone's published bands and 1&1's own published network facts (see How we check). Nobody has confirmed it for this exact pairing yet.
