Does the Sonim XP3 work on Movistar?

Last checked 23 Oct 20264 sourcesWorked out from published specs

Yes, it works.

Works

Calls and texts work over 2G, which Movistar keeps running with no switch-off date announced, and 4G data should work (shared bands: 3).

Calls, texts and data should all work with a Movistar SIM.

We worked this out from the phone's published bands and Movistar's own published network facts (see How we check). Nobody has confirmed it for this exact pairing yet.

Movistar (Spain)

  • 3G: Being switched off: started early 2026, due to finish during 2027
  • 2G: On; no firm switch-off date (Spanish operators expect to keep 2G until around 2030)

Sonim XP3

  • 2G: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
  • 3G: 800 MHz, 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1700/2100 (AWS) MHz, 2100 MHz
  • 4G bands: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 12, 13, 14, 25, 26, 38, 41, 66 (no band 20)

The same applies to networks that run on Movistar: Digi. Smaller networks sometimes handle 4G Calling differently, so check with them too.
