Does the emporia SIMPLICITY-LTE work on Free Mobile?
Yes, for now.
Works with caveatsWith 2G being switched off, calls and texts fall back to 3G, which this phone supports (900 MHz, 2100 MHz). Free hasn't announced a 3G switch-off date. We haven't found confirmation that 4G Calling works on Free Mobile. 4G data should work (shared bands: 1, 3, 7).
Expect it to work, but read the switch-off dates below. That's where the catch is.
We worked this out from the phone's published bands and Free Mobile's own published network facts (see How we check). Nobody has confirmed it for this exact pairing yet.
Free Mobile (France)
- 3G: On; no switch-off date announced
- 2G: No 2G of its own: uses Orange's 2G, which is off across mainland France since 20 October 2026 ("white zones" until 1–15 December 2026)
emporia SIMPLICITY-LTE
- 2G: GSM 900 / 1800 (emporia manual)
- 3G: 900 MHz, 2100 MHz
- 4G bands: 1, 3, 7, 8, 20
- 4G Calling: unknown – emporia's manual lists the 4G bands but doesn't mention VoLTE, and we haven't found it on a network's VoLTE list.
