Does the Light Phone III work on KPN?

Yes.

Works

Light's own compatibility checker says the Light Phone III will work with KPN in the Netherlands (it lists KPN, VodafoneZiggo and Odido; checked 23 Oct 2026). Light's spec sheet lists 4G and 5G only, so calls go over 4G Calling.

You should be able to put a KPN SIM in the Light Phone III and make calls, send texts and use data.

KPN (Netherlands)

  • 3G: Switched off (31 March 2022)
  • 2G: On until 1 December 2027 (KPN started moving customers who don't need it off 2G in March 2026)

Light Phone III

  • 2G: Not listed on Light's spec sheet
  • 3G: Not published or not checked yet
  • 4G bands: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 38, 40, 41, 42, 48, 53, 66, 71 + 5G
  • 4G Calling: unknown – Light says the Light III is one worldwide model, but we haven't found a UK or Portuguese network that confirms 4G Calling on it. EE owners on r/LightPhone report 4G service.

The same applies to networks that run on KPN: Simyo. Smaller networks sometimes handle 4G Calling differently, so check with them too.
