Does the Mudita Kompakt (Global) work on Free Mobile?

Last checked 23 Oct 20266 sourcesBased on owner reports

Yes, it should.

Works

Two owners on Mudita's forum report 4G Calling (VoLTE) working on Free in France (Aug 2026), and the phone also has 3G (900/2100 MHz) to fall back on. One of them says Free's 4G calls use a lower-quality voice codec. The Kompakt isn't on Free's own VoLTE list, so this rests on owner reports.

You should be able to put a Free Mobile SIM in the Mudita Kompakt (Global) and make calls, send texts and use data.

Free Mobile (France)

  • 3G: On; no switch-off date announced
  • 2G: No 2G of its own: uses Orange's 2G, which is off across mainland France since 20 October 2026 ("white zones" until 1–15 December 2026)

Mudita Kompakt (Global)

  • 2G: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800
  • 3G: 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 2100 MHz
  • 4G bands: FDD 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 26; TDD 34, 38–41
  • 4G Calling: yes – Mudita lists VoLTE support; owners on Mudita's forum report it depends on the carrier (works on Play in Poland, not registering on some Orange SIMs).
