It works, with caveats.

Works with caveats

With 2G off, calls and texts fall back to 3G, which this phone supports (900 MHz). Orange plans to start switching 3G off from the end of 2028. Owners on Mudita's forum (Aug–Sep 2026) say Orange told them the Kompakt isn't on its 4G Calling (VoLTE) whitelist, and VoLTE only works briefly when forced; Mudita says its own VoLTE tests on Orange France worked. Expect calls over 3G for now.

Expect it to work, but read the switch-off dates below. That's where the catch is.

This comes from a network list, the network selling it, a maker statement or an owner report.

Orange (France)

  • 3G: On until the end of 2028 (switch-off starts then)
  • 2G: Off across mainland France since 20 October 2026 (switched off in waves from 31 March); official no-coverage "white zones" keep it until 1–15 December 2026

Mudita Kompakt (Global)

  • 2G: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800
  • 3G: 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 2100 MHz
  • 4G bands: FDD 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 26; TDD 34, 38–41
  • 4G Calling: yes – Mudita lists VoLTE support; owners on Mudita's forum report it depends on the carrier (works on Play in Poland, not registering on some Orange SIMs).

The same applies to networks that run on Orange: Sosh. Smaller networks sometimes handle 4G Calling differently, so check with them too.
