Does the Mudita Pure work on O2?

It works, with caveats.

Works with caveats

Calls and texts can fall back to 2G. O2 plans to start switching 2G off from 2029. It supports 4G Calling, but we haven't found confirmation that it's enabled on O2. Its 4G bands match (shared bands: 1, 3, 8, 20, 28, 40). There's no mobile data on the phone itself (Mudita only allows USB tethering to a computer).

It works today, but calls on the Mudita Pure rely on a part of O2's network with a switch-off on the way. Check the dates below before you commit for years.

We worked this out from the phone's published bands and O2's own published network facts (see How we check). Nobody has confirmed it for this exact pairing yet.

O2 (UK)

  • 3G: Switched off (completed 2025/26)
  • 2G: Staying on for now; O2 plans to begin switching 2G off from 2029

Mudita Pure

  • 2G: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
  • 3G: 800 MHz, 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1700/2100 (AWS) MHz, 1900 MHz, 2100 MHz
  • 4G bands: FDD 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 26, 28; TDD 38–41
  • 4G Calling: experimental – MuditaOS 1.11.0 added VoLTE as an experimental feature for Great Britain (and DK, NL, CA, AT).

The same applies to networks that run on O2: giffgaff, Tesco Mobile, Sky Mobile. Smaller networks sometimes handle 4G Calling differently, so check with them too.
