Does the Punkt MP02 work on 1&1?

Last checked 23 Oct 20265 sourcesWorked out from published specs

Mostly, with a catch.

Works with caveats

Calls and texts can fall back to 2G. 1&1 has no 2G of its own and uses Vodafone's 2G through national roaming, which ends in September 2028. It supports 4G Calling, but we haven't found confirmation that it's enabled on 1&1. 4G data should work (shared bands: 1, 3, 7, 8, 20).

Expect it to work, but read the switch-off dates below. That's where the catch is.

We worked this out from the phone's published bands and 1&1's own published network facts (see How we check). Nobody has confirmed it for this exact pairing yet.

1&1 (Germany)

  • 3G: No 3G network
  • 2G: No 2G of its own: uses Vodafone's 2G via national roaming, so Vodafone's September 2028 date applies

Punkt MP02

  • 2G: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
  • 3G: 800 MHz, 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1700/2100 (AWS) MHz, 1900 MHz, 2100 MHz
  • 4G bands: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 17, 19, 20
  • 4G Calling: yes – Punkt says MP02 supports VoLTE; the APHY v1.3.1 update (V03.02.0375) 'improves VoLTE functionality with certain carriers in the UK'. Owners on r/Punkt report mixed results by network.
