Does the Punkt MP02 work on Telekom?
Yes, for now.
Works with caveatsCalls and texts can fall back to 2G. Telekom plans to switch 2G off completely by 30 June 2028. It supports 4G Calling, but we haven't found confirmation that it's enabled on Telekom. 4G data should work (shared bands: 1, 3, 7, 8, 20).
It works today, but calls on the Punkt MP02 rely on a part of Telekom's network with a switch-off on the way. Check the dates below before you commit for years.
We worked this out from the phone's published bands and Telekom's own published network facts (see How we check). Nobody has confirmed it for this exact pairing yet.
Telekom (Germany)
- 3G: Switched off in 2021
- 2G: On until 30 June 2028, when Telekom plans to switch it off completely
Punkt MP02
- 2G: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
- 3G: 800 MHz, 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1700/2100 (AWS) MHz, 1900 MHz, 2100 MHz
- 4G bands: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 17, 19, 20
- 4G Calling: yes – Punkt says MP02 supports VoLTE; the APHY v1.3.1 update (V03.02.0375) 'improves VoLTE functionality with certain carriers in the UK'. Owners on r/Punkt report mixed results by network.
The same applies to networks that run on Telekom: congstar. Smaller networks sometimes handle 4G Calling differently, so check with them too.
