Does the Punkt MP02 work on SFR?

It works, with caveats.

Works with caveats

With 2G being switched off, calls and texts fall back to 3G, which this phone supports (900 MHz, 2100 MHz). SFR plans to switch 3G off at the end of 2028. It supports 4G Calling, but we haven't found confirmation that it's enabled on SFR. 4G data should work (shared bands: 1, 3, 7, 20).

Expect it to work, but read the switch-off dates below. That's where the catch is.

We worked this out from the phone's published bands and SFR's own published network facts (see How we check). Nobody has confirmed it for this exact pairing yet.

SFR (France)

  • 3G: On until the end of 2028
  • 2G: Switch-off in two phases: 15–30 November 2026 in big cities (incl. the Paris region, Lyon, Marseille, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Nantes), then everywhere from 1 to 15 December 2026

Punkt MP02

  • 2G: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
  • 3G: 800 MHz, 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1700/2100 (AWS) MHz, 1900 MHz, 2100 MHz
  • 4G bands: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 17, 19, 20
  • 4G Calling: yes – Punkt says MP02 supports VoLTE; the APHY v1.3.1 update (V03.02.0375) 'improves VoLTE functionality with certain carriers in the UK'. Owners on r/Punkt report mixed results by network.

The same applies to networks that run on SFR: RED by SFR. Smaller networks sometimes handle 4G Calling differently, so check with them too.
