Does the Sonim XP3 work on Vodafone UK?

Mostly, with a catch.

Works with caveats

Calls and texts can fall back to 2G. Vodafone's 2G is due to close in spring 2030. We haven't found confirmation that 4G Calling works on Vodafone UK. 4G data should work (shared bands: 1, 3, 8, 38).

Fine for now. The catch is how calls get through: if they ride on 2G or 3G, they stop when Vodafone UK switches that off.

We worked this out from the phone's published bands and Vodafone UK's own published network facts (see How we check). Nobody has confirmed it for this exact pairing yet.

Vodafone UK (UK)

  • 3G: Switched off
  • 2G: Staying on for now; VodafoneThree says Vodafone's 2G closes in spring 2030

Sonim XP3

  • 2G: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
  • 3G: 800 MHz, 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1700/2100 (AWS) MHz, 2100 MHz
  • 4G bands: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 12, 13, 14, 25, 26, 38, 41, 66 (no band 20)
  • 4G Calling: unknown – Built for US networks.

The same applies to networks that run on Vodafone UK: VOXI, Lebara. Smaller networks sometimes handle 4G Calling differently, so check with them too.
