Works with caveats

With 2G being switched off, calls and texts fall back to 3G, which this phone supports (2100 MHz). Free hasn't announced a 3G switch-off date. We haven't found confirmation that 4G Calling works on Free Mobile. 4G data should work (shared bands: 1, 3, 7).

It works today, but calls on the Sonim XP3plus rely on a part of Free Mobile's network with a switch-off on the way. Check the dates below before you commit for years.

We worked this out from the phone's published bands and Free Mobile's own published network facts (see How we check). Nobody has confirmed it for this exact pairing yet.

Free Mobile (France)

  • 3G: On; no switch-off date announced
  • 2G: No 2G of its own: uses Orange's 2G, which is off across mainland France since 20 October 2026 ("white zones" until 1–15 December 2026)

Sonim XP3plus

  • 2G: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
  • 3G: 850 MHz, 1700/2100 (AWS) MHz, 1900 MHz, 2100 MHz
  • 4G bands: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 13, 14, 25, 26, 30, 39, 40, 41, 66, 71 (no band 20)
