Does the Sonim XP3plus work on SFR?

It works, with caveats.

Works with caveats

With 2G being switched off, calls and texts fall back to 3G, which this phone supports (2100 MHz). SFR plans to switch 3G off at the end of 2028. We haven't found confirmation that 4G Calling works on SFR. 4G data should work (shared bands: 1, 3, 7).

Fine for now. The catch is how calls get through: if they ride on 2G or 3G, they stop when SFR switches that off.

We worked this out from the phone's published bands and SFR's own published network facts (see How we check). Nobody has confirmed it for this exact pairing yet.

SFR (France)

  • 3G: On until the end of 2028
  • 2G: Switch-off in two phases: 15–30 November 2026 in big cities (incl. the Paris region, Lyon, Marseille, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Nantes), then everywhere from 1 to 15 December 2026

Sonim XP3plus

  • 2G: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
  • 3G: 850 MHz, 1700/2100 (AWS) MHz, 1900 MHz, 2100 MHz
  • 4G bands: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 13, 14, 25, 26, 30, 39, 40, 41, 66, 71 (no band 20)
  • 4G Calling: unknown – Built for US networks.

The same applies to networks that run on SFR: RED by SFR. Smaller networks sometimes handle 4G Calling differently, so check with them too.
