Does the TCL Flip 2 (US model) work on O2?

Last checked 22 Oct 20263 sourcesWorked out from published specs

Yes, for now.

Works with caveats

Calls and texts can fall back to 2G. O2 plans to start switching 2G off from 2029. We haven't found confirmation that 4G Calling works on O2. Its 4G bands (2, 4, 5, 12, 25, 26, 41, 66, 71 (US bands)) don't match O2's, so expect no 4G data.

It works today, but calls on the TCL Flip 2 (US model) rely on a part of O2's network with a switch-off on the way. Check the dates below before you commit for years.

We worked this out from the phone's published bands and O2's own published network facts (see How we check). Nobody has confirmed it for this exact pairing yet.

O2 (UK)

  • 3G: Switched off (completed 2025/26)
  • 2G: Staying on for now; O2 plans to begin switching 2G off from 2029

TCL Flip 2 (US model)

  • 2G: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
  • 3G: 850 MHz, 1700/2100 (AWS) MHz, 1900 MHz
  • 4G bands: 2, 4, 5, 12, 25, 26, 41, 66, 71 (US bands)
  • 4G Calling: unknown – Built for US networks.

The same applies to networks that run on O2: giffgaff, Tesco Mobile, Sky Mobile. Smaller networks sometimes handle 4G Calling differently, so check with them too.
