Does the Mudita Pure work on Orange?

Last checked 23 Oct 20269 sourcesWorked out from published specs

Yes, for now.

Works with caveats

With 2G being switched off, calls and texts fall back to 3G, which this phone supports (900 MHz). Orange plans to start switching 3G off from the end of 2028. It supports 4G Calling, but we haven't found confirmation that it's enabled on Orange. Its 4G bands match (shared bands: 1, 3, 7, 20, 28). There's no mobile data on the phone itself (Mudita only allows USB tethering to a computer).

Fine for now. The catch is how calls get through: if they ride on 2G or 3G, they stop when Orange switches that off.

We worked this out from the phone's published bands and Orange's own published network facts (see How we check). Nobody has confirmed it for this exact pairing yet.

Orange (France)

  • 3G: On until the end of 2028 (switch-off starts then)
  • 2G: Off across mainland France since 20 October 2026 (switched off in waves from 31 March); official no-coverage "white zones" keep it until 1–15 December 2026

Mudita Pure

  • 2G: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
  • 3G: 800 MHz, 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1700/2100 (AWS) MHz, 1900 MHz, 2100 MHz
  • 4G bands: FDD 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 26, 28; TDD 38–41
  • 4G Calling: experimental – MuditaOS 1.11.0 added VoLTE as an experimental feature for Great Britain (and DK, NL, CA, AT).

The same applies to networks that run on Orange: Sosh. Smaller networks sometimes handle 4G Calling differently, so check with them too.
