Does the Sonim XP3 work on Orange?

Last checked 23 Oct 20269 sourcesWorked out from published specs

Yes, for now.

Works with caveats

With 2G being switched off, calls and texts fall back to 3G, which this phone supports (900 MHz). Orange plans to start switching 3G off from the end of 2028. We haven't found confirmation that 4G Calling works on Orange. 4G data should work (shared bands: 1, 3).

It works today, but calls on the Sonim XP3 rely on a part of Orange's network with a switch-off on the way. Check the dates below before you commit for years.

We worked this out from the phone's published bands and Orange's own published network facts (see How we check). Nobody has confirmed it for this exact pairing yet.

Orange (France)

  • 3G: On until the end of 2028 (switch-off starts then)
  • 2G: Off across mainland France since 20 October 2026 (switched off in waves from 31 March); official no-coverage "white zones" keep it until 1–15 December 2026

Sonim XP3

  • 2G: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
  • 3G: 800 MHz, 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1700/2100 (AWS) MHz, 2100 MHz
  • 4G bands: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 12, 13, 14, 25, 26, 38, 41, 66 (no band 20)
  • 4G Calling: unknown – Built for US networks.

The same applies to networks that run on Orange: Sosh. Smaller networks sometimes handle 4G Calling differently, so check with them too.
